Rule 1: Facility

All matches will be played at the Beaverfork Lake Disc Golf Course which is maintained by Conway Parks and Recreation. Alcohol and tobacco are not permitted at the course or in the associated parking lot. Do not leave trash on the course.

Rule 2: Player Eligibility

1. Players must be at least 16 years old to play.

2. Players must have their own discs.

Rule 3: Equipment

1. Participants must have their own discs.

2. The disc used in play must meet all of the conditions set forth in the PDGA Technical Standards

3. A Disc which is cracked or has a hole in it is illegal

4. All disc used in play must be uniquely marked.

5. A disc that has been modified after production such that its original flight characteristics have been altered is illegal.

6. A player receives a warning for the first throw of an unmarked disc. A player receives one penalty throw for each subsequent throw of an unmarked disc if observed by two or more players of the group or an official. A player who repeatedly throws an illegal disc during the round may be subject to disqualification

Rule 4: Object of the Game

Disc Golf is played like traditional “ball” golf, but with flying discs instead of balls and clubs. One point (stroke) is counted each time the disc is thrown and when a penalty is incurred. The goal is to play each hole in the fewest strokes possible. The player or team with the lowest total strokes for the entire course wins.

Rule 5: Format

1. One round will consist of 18 holes being completed. Cards will be made up randomly the day of games.

2. Teams must sign off on the official score at the completion of every round (18 holes).

3. All cards must be put in the lockbox by the map course sign near hole 1.

Rule 6: Beginning a Round

1. Participants will meet at Pavilion to discuss the course and scorekeeping, hand out course maps and scorecards, and answer questions.

2. Each hole begins with a tee throw from a designated tee pad. Players must have at least one supporting point within the teeing area, and all supporting points must be within the teeing area

3. Players shall tee off on the first hole in the order in which the players are listed on the scorecard(s)

Rule 7: Throwing Order

1. After teeing off, the player whose disc is farthest from the hole always throws first.

2. The player with the least amount of strokes on the previous hole is the first to tee off on the next hole.

Rule 8: Lie

1. The lie is the spot where the player’s previous throw has landed. Mark lie with a mini disc or turn over the thrown disc, directly towards the hole or designated fairway. The player’s subsequent throw is made from directly behind the marked lie.

2. Any disc that comes to rest above the ground is considered an unplayable lie. The disc must be thrown from the lie on the ground, directly underneath the unplayable lie, relocated to avoid damage to the course.

Rule 9: Fairway Throws

Fairway throws must be made from directly behind the lie. A run-up and normal follow-through, after release, is allowed, unless the lie is within 10 meters of the target. Any shot within 10 meters of the target requires that the player not move past the lie until the disc is at rest.

Rule 10: Completion of Hole

A disc that comes to rest in the basket or chains constitutes a successful completion of that hole.

Rules 11: Out of Bounds (O.B.)

  • Permanent water hazards and public roads are always out of bounds.

  • The “2 meter Rule” is NOT in effect.

  • The creek that runs across hole 10 is casual, NOT O.B.

Rule 12: Penalties and Course Courtesy

1. Players will not be penalized for rule infractions. Other players will keep you honest.

2. Remain quiet and avoid unnecessary movements while others are throwing.

3. Stand behind the player who is throwing until throw is complete.

4. Remove disc from the basket/chains after completing the hole.

5. Help new players learn the rules.

6. Pick up trash and put in proper receptacles.

7. Do not alter the course (trees, bushes, etc.) in any way outside of rule “803 Obstacles and Relief”.

Rules 13: Courtesy Extended

A. A player must not:

1. Throw if the throw might injure someone or distract another player; or,

2. Throw out of order without consent or when it would impact another player; or,

3. Engage in distracting or unsportsmanlike actions such as:

  • Shouting (unless warning someone at risk of being struck by a disc),

  • Cursing,

  • Striking, kicking, or throwing park, course, or player equipment,

  • Moving or talking while another player is throwing,

  • Advancing beyond the away player; or,

4. Leave equipment where it may distract other players or interfere with a thrown disc; or,

5. Litter

6. Smoke or Vape on the course. Tobacco or Tobacco products are not allowed on City property.

B. A player must:

1. Perform actions expected by the rules, including

          • Helping to find a lost disc; and,

          • Moving equipment when asked; and,

          • Keeping score properly

2. Watch the other members of the group throw in order to ensure rules compliance and to help find discs.

C. Failing to follow these rules may result in suspension and further participation in the league.
